Back in '88, in Sowe, Atok, the community got together thanks to the initiative and
sponsorship of PLAN International, a non-government organization and the leadership
of Mrs. Gumangan, Mrs. Ang, Mrs. Sebastian, and Mrs. Calado. They rallied 48 members and started small, renting a spot to conduct their business, but these farmers and community members were in it for the long haul.
By '92, they bought their own land – funded by their own hard work and smarts. PLAN
even chipped in a single-story operations building in '93, handing it over in ’94. By '95,
under the leadership of Mr. Cadias, they officially became the SOWE Multipurpose
Cooperative (SOWE MPC). Their vision? A rock-solid Cooperative that takes care of its
members and helps the whole community thrive.
SOWE MPC is all about providing good services, growing together, keeping things
honest, boosting their community, and making sure their people are always leveling up.
This is Filipino resilience and cooperation at its finest, grown right here in Atok. Respect.
