In the small village of Chelchele, you'll find the Tadesse Desta coffee plant, a 2.2-hectare operation that's been doing some serious work since 2019. This crew gets their beans from a group of small farmers who grow coffee the right way: with agroforestry methods that keep things honest and the cherries ripe.
Tadesse Desta is all about working with these smallholders, a true partnership built on mutual respect and good coffee. They've got their natural and washed processes on lockdown, so you know exactly where your beans come from. This is coffee grown in a healthy ecosystem, supporting farmers and keeping things fair. The result? Certified, competition-winning beans that live up to the hype.
Case in point: they went head-to-head with 41 samples from nine countries at the African Fine Coffees Association competition in Addis Ababa. And what happened? Their Yirgacheffe Chelchele G1 took home a second-place win in the washed category. That’s a serious flex, and it tells you everything you need to know about these beans.
